Jaflong Bangladeshi & Indian Restaurant

If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Ripon and stumble upon 16 Kirkgate, there’s a hidden culinary gem you won’t want to miss-Jaflong Bangladeshi & Indian Restaurant. It’s not flashy, not over-the-top, but what it does deliver is seriously good food packed with bold spices, rich aromas, and soul-warming authenticity that speaks of real Bangladeshi and Indian heritage.

Jaflong has made a name for itself locally and among visiting curry lovers for all the right reasons. Whether you're in the mood for a comforting dinner or a solo escape with a plate of aromatic biryani, this place checks all the boxes. As soon as you step inside, you're met with a cozy, laid-back vibe-perfect for winding down. The seating is spacious and wheelchair accessible, which makes it a thoughtful spot for everyone. While they don’t offer wheelchair-friendly parking, the accessible restrooms and seating show attention to inclusivity.

One of the things I appreciate most is how Jaflong blends tradition with flexibility. Craving a late-night bite? They're open. Want your favorite curry without leaving your couch? They've got delivery, takeaway, curbside pickup, and even no-contact delivery. Prefer to eat in? The dine-in option lets you enjoy your food hot and fresh, straight from the kitchen, served by a team that’s always warm and welcoming.

When it comes to the menu, this is where Jaflong truly shines. While it caters beautifully to the classics-think rich Chicken Tikka Masala, spicy Lamb Vindaloo, or silky Butter Chicken-it also offers vegan and vegetarian dishes that aren’t just afterthoughts. From hearty lentil daals to veggie-packed biryanis, there's a clear dedication to flavor, balance, and variety. And yes, there are small plates perfect for sharing-or for those of us who can’t choose just one dish.

Looking to spice up your night? Their curry offerings are incredibly diverse. What sets them apart is the depth of spice layering-nothing feels overly aggressive or one-note. Every bite carries the complexity you’d expect from a kitchen that respects its roots. You can tell the chefs here aren’t just cooking for the clock-they’re crafting meals with care. And if you're someone who likes it extra hot, just say the word-they’re not shy with the chili.

Pair your meal with a cup of strong Indian coffee or save room for dessert-their sweet selections, from creamy kulfis to syrupy gulab jamuns, are a proper ending to your spice-laden journey. And for gatherings or parties, their catering service brings all of this goodness straight to your event, adding that touch of authentic flair your guests won’t stop talking about.

Another thing worth mentioning is their counter service option. It adds a casual twist-perfect if you're just popping in for something quick but still want the real deal. For anyone who appreciates authenticity without pretension, Jaflong feels like home.

In a town where dining spots can sometimes blend together, Jaflong Bangladeshi & Indian Restaurant stands out by staying true to its culinary identity. It doesn't try to modernize tradition out of recognition, nor does it settle for being “just another curry house.” Instead, it offers an experience rooted in heritage, served with heart, and built on honest flavors. Whether you’re a seasoned spice lover or someone just beginning to explore the world of Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine, this is the kind of place that turns first-timers into regulars.

Another good restaurant. Hence it's survival in the "shark infested waters" of restaurant competition. And the credit crunch. You can take your own alcohol. Staff are efficient and pleasant. The food great. And a great ambience.

Very tasty, very helpful staff, I've only ever had take aways and the wait is sometimes quite long but that's because they cook each meal fresh to order and it's well worth the wait. Truly delicious.

Jaflong has the best curries I have ever tasted. Not too hot but full of flavor. Highly recommended.

Starter good, main rubbish and service was awful. Very disappointing experience unfortunately. We visited after the races and they lost our order, the food took far too long and was of moderate quality.

Very popular with lots of regulars but I've never left there feeling full or happy. That said I only go about once a year and occasional take away. Tasty food small portions . The last time we went every meal was PINK! Their explanation it's local speciality cuisine?
